3rd Anniversary Gift for Him: Why a Leather Bracelet Is the Traditional Choice
A third wedding anniversary comes with a built-in brief, and the hard part is finding a version of it he will actually use. The traditional 3rd anniversary gift is leather, and a personalised leather bracelet is one of the few leather gifts he will wear every day rather than leave in a drawer. Engrave it with your wedding date or initials and it marks the year without being sentimental for the sake of it. Here is why leather is the 3rd anniversary material, which bracelet to choose, and what to engrave.
What is the traditional 3rd anniversary gift?
Leather. The traditional anniversary list runs paper for the first year, cotton for the second and leather for the third. The idea is that leather is tough, flexible and gets better with age, which is a fair description of a marriage three years in.
Most leather anniversary gift lists suggest wallets, bags and belts. Those are useful, but they are things he carries rather than wears, and he may already have a wallet he likes. A bracelet is closer to the skin, it is seen every day, and it can carry an engraving where he will notice it.
Why choose a leather bracelet for your 3rd anniversary?
- It is the right material. It meets the tradition exactly, rather than stretching it.
- It is personal. Every bracelet on our UK site is engraved by hand in our London workshop using permanent laser engraving.
- It lasts. Fittings are stainless steel (316L on the Hanover and Drapers), tarnish-free and sweat-proof, and every piece has a lifetime warranty.
- It arrives ready. Each bracelet comes in a gift box, so there is nothing else to buy.
Which leather bracelet should I choose?
Hanover: the classic braided bracelet
The Personalised Hanover bracelet is our best seller: full-grain black leather braided into a neat band with a brushed black 316L stainless steel clasp. It comes in Small (15–16.5cm), Medium (16.5–18cm), Large (18–19.5cm) and X-Large (19.5–21cm), measured as the inner circumference when fastened.

Best for: a husband who dresses smartly and wears a watch. Trade-off: you need his size. If you can't find out quietly, the Personalised Adjustable Hanover has a magnetic clasp that extends by up to an inch, so you only need to know whether he is a Medium (6–7 in) or Large (7–8 in).
Navarro: thicker, more rugged leather
The Personalised Navarro bracelet uses genuine leather in a double strand with brushed stainless steel fittings. It has more texture than the Hanover and goes up to X-Large (21–23.5cm). For a simpler look, the single-strand Navarro closes with a magnetic clasp and comes in the same three sizes.

Best for: a husband who prefers boots, denim and the outdoors. Trade-off: the double strand is a bolder look; if he has never worn a bracelet, the single strand is the easier start.
Drapers: slim twisted leather
The Personalised Drapers bracelet is black twisted leather with two 316L stainless steel slider clasps, so it adjusts to his wrist. It is the slimmest and lightest-looking of the leather bracelets here.

Best for: a husband who likes things understated, or when you don't know his size. Trade-off: it is the quietest of the four, so it makes less of a statement on its own.

Valen: leather with an onyx bead
If he already wears a bead bracelet, the Personalised Valen bracelet combines braided leather with an onyx bead and sits well in a stack. Sizes run from Medium (15–18cm) to X-Large (20–23cm).

Best for: a husband who already wears a stack or likes a bit of contrast. Trade-off: the bead makes it less plain than the others, so it is the least safe choice if he has never worn a bracelet.
Is a leather bracelet better than a leather wallet or belt?
It depends on what he already owns. A wallet or belt makes sense if his current one is falling apart. If not, it is a replacement rather than a gift. A bracelet is something new: it adds to what he wears, it is visible every day, and the engraving keeps the occasion attached to it. It is also small enough to give alongside a card or a dinner booking without feeling like too much.
If he really won't wear leather on his wrist, a slim titanium cuff such as the Ravick is the closest alternative. It breaks the tradition, but keeps the idea of something engraved that he wears daily.
When should I order?
Each bracelet is engraved to order, so allow time before the date. Check the delivery estimate on the product page before you check out.
What should I engrave on a 3rd anniversary bracelet?
Keep it short so it reads cleanly on a small metal surface:
- Your wedding date: 14.06.2023, or the year alone.
- Your initials: J & S, or both surnames' initials if you changed one.
- Coordinates: where you married, or where you got engaged.
- A word or two: something you say to each other, or "III" for the third year.

How do I find his bracelet size without him knowing?
Measure a watch he wears comfortably from the buckle to the hole he uses, or wrap a strip of paper around his wrist and measure it. Hanover sizes are the fit around the wrist when fastened, so match that number to the size range. If he is between sizes, go up. If you have no measurement at all, pick the Drapers, which adjusts with two slider clasps; the Adjustable Hanover only asks you to choose between Medium and Large.
How do I make a leather bracelet last?
Take it off before swimming or showering, let it dry naturally if it gets wet, and store it flat. Our men's jewellery care guide covers cleaning and storage in more detail.

Is leather the 3rd anniversary gift in the UK?
Yes. Leather is the traditional third wedding anniversary material on the standard anniversary list used in the UK.
Is a bracelet a good 3rd anniversary gift for a husband who doesn't wear jewellery?
A plain black leather bracelet is one of the easiest pieces for a man to start wearing. It reads as an accessory, not jewellery, and goes with a watch.
Can the engraving go on the inside?
The Personalised Ravick titanium cuff lets you choose inside or outside engraving, which suits a private message, though it isn't leather. For the leather bracelets, the product page shows where the engraving sits.
Is the engraving permanent?
Yes. It is a permanent laser engraving, done by hand in our London workshop for UK orders.
Will it arrive gift-wrapped?
Every bracelet arrives in a Forge & Foundry gift box.
Is there a warranty?
