Frequently Asked Questions
Sizing & fit
How do I measure my wrist for a bracelet?
Wrap a strip of paper or a tape measure around your wrist just below the wrist bone, mark where it meets, then measure that length flat. That measurement is your wrist circumference. If you land between two sizes, choose the smaller one — our bracelets sit better slightly snug than loose.
What bracelet sizes do you offer?
Most Forge & Foundry bracelets come in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large, covering roughly 6 to 9¼ inches (15–23.5cm). Beaded bracelets on an elastic core stretch to fit. Our leather slider bracelets — Drapers, Drayton, Trinity and Daplyn — are fully adjustable up to 9 or 10 inches depending on the style. The Ravick titanium cuff adjusts from 5 to 9 inches, so it needs no size at all. Browse men's bracelets to see the sizing on each piece.
Are your bracelet sizes measured flat or around the wrist?
Around the wrist. Our sizes are the inner circumference when the bracelet is fastened — the actual fit on you, not the total length laid flat. Measuring a bracelet end to end will always look longer, because the clasp overlaps when closed. This matters most on the Hanover, which comes in four sizes from 15cm to 21cm; there's a dedicated Hanover size guide.
What if my bracelet doesn't fit?
Contact us at hello@forge-and-foundry.com with your order number. Non-personalised items can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Personalised and engraved pieces can't be returned or exchanged because they're made specifically for you — but if the size is wrong, email us and we'll help.
How do I find my ring size?
Our rings run in UK sizes P through X. The most reliable method is to measure the inside diameter of a ring you already wear comfortably, rather than measuring your finger. Full instructions are in our ring size guide, and there's a longer explainer on how to measure men's ring size. Bear in mind that finger size varies with temperature and time of day.
How long are your chains and pendant necklaces?
Our pendants come on a 21-inch chain with a 2-inch extender and a lobster clasp, so you can wear them at 21 or 23 inches. The pendant itself is 2.5cm (1 inch) across. Standalone Hatton chains are 20 inches. The chain is always included with a pendant — you're not buying them separately.
Materials & quality
Will your jewellery turn my skin green?
No. Our stainless steel and plated pieces are hypoallergenic and won't discolour your skin. We build in 316L stainless steel — the same grade used in surgical instruments — along with solid titanium and 925 sterling silver. Green marks come from copper and brass alloys, which we don't use in contact pieces.
What materials do you use?
Four main ones. 316L stainless steel for everyday durability. Solid titanium in the Ravick cuff — light, strong and completely hypoallergenic. 925 sterling silver on selected pendants. 18K gold plating over steel or sterling silver for our gold pieces. Stones include hand-carved matte black onyx, silver hematite, tiger's eye, lapis lazuli and shell pearls, alongside genuine leather. There's a fuller breakdown in our guide to the best materials for men's jewellery.
Can I wear it in the shower or the sea?
Steel, titanium and beaded pieces are water, heat and sweat resistant — wear them daily without worrying. Leather is the exception. Our leather is finished with a wax coating for improved durability, but it shouldn't be submerged. Take leather bracelets off before swimming, showering or bathing and they'll last years.
Is stainless steel better than sterling silver?
For everyday wear, usually yes. Stainless steel holds its finish, resists scratching and doesn't tarnish, whereas sterling silver oxidises over time and needs periodic polishing. Sterling has a warmer, softer lustre that some men prefer for dressier pieces. We make both — see the full comparison in stainless steel versus sterling silver, and browse silver men's jewellery.
How do I clean and care for my jewellery?
Steel and beaded pieces: warm water, a drop of washing-up liquid, a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly. Leather: wipe with a dry cloth only, never soak. Store pieces separately so they don't scratch each other — the metal gift box your order arrives in works well for this. Our jewellery care guide covers each material in detail, and what damages men's jewellery explains what to avoid.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — every piece comes with a lifetime warranty, so you can buy without worrying about it failing. Full details and activation are on our lifetime warranty page.
Engraving & personalisation
Can I have my jewellery engraved?
Yes. We engrave bracelets, cuffs, signet rings and pendants in our London workshop. Initials, names, dates, coordinates and short messages all work. Browse everything engravable in custom engraving and personalised bracelets.
How much can I fit on an engraving?
It depends on the piece — a signet ring face takes far less than the flat band of a titanium cuff. As a rule, initials and short dates suit smaller surfaces, while a cuff can carry a full name or a short phrase. For inspiration, see our engraving ideas for men's jewellery.
Can the engraving go on the inside?
On the Ravick titanium cuff, yes — you choose outside or inside at checkout. Outside makes it a visible statement; inside keeps it private, which people often prefer for a personal message or a date. Other pieces are engraved in their designated position.
Does engraving delay my order?
No. Personalised pieces are made to order but ship on exactly the same timescale as everything else — order before 1pm GMT on a business day and your piece is engraved and dispatched that same day. You can read about how our bracelets are engraved.
Can I return a personalised item?
Personalised and engraved items can't be refunded or exchanged, because they're made specifically for you and can't be resold. If something is wrong with your piece — including sizing — email hello@forge-and-foundry.com and we'll help. Our
Styling & wearing
Which hand should a man wear a bracelet on?
There's no rule — wear it on whichever wrist feels natural. Most men choose their non-dominant wrist, simply because a bracelet is less likely to get knocked while writing, typing or working. If you wear a watch, the usual approach is a bracelet on the opposite wrist, or stacked alongside the watch on the same wrist if you want a bolder look. We cover the etiquette, the symbolism and the practical trade-offs in what hand should a man wear a bracelet on.
Should I wear gold or silver?
Broadly, warmer skin tones suit gold and cooler tones suit silver — but the more useful test is what you already own. Match your jewellery to the metal in your watch, belt buckle and glasses and it will look deliberate rather than accidental. Mixing metals works if you commit to it fully rather than half-way. Our guide to gold or silver jewellery for men goes further, and you can browse gold and silver separately.
Can I wear more than one bracelet at once?
Yes — stacking is one of the easiest ways to make jewellery look considered. The reliable formula is to vary texture while keeping the metal consistent: a leather bracelet next to a beaded one, both with the same clasp finish. Two or three pieces is usually the sweet spot. See bead bracelets, pendants and layered chains for fit and sizing when stacking.
How do I layer necklaces without it looking cluttered?
Use different lengths so each piece sits clearly on its own — a 20-inch chain with a 21- or 23-inch pendant chain gives visible separation. Keep the metals matched and let one piece be the focal point. Our guide on how to style men's necklaces covers this in detail, and there's a how to wear page with video guides.
What does a black onyx bracelet mean?
Onyx has long been associated with strength, protection and grounding — it was worn by Roman soldiers as a stone of courage, and remains one of the most-worn stones in men's jewellery for that reason. Practically, it's also a dense, hard stone that takes a beautiful matte or polished finish. We go into the history and styling in black onyx bracelets for men, and the broader meaning behind bead bracelets.
What do your pendants symbolise?
Each carries a distinct meaning. St Christopher is the patron saint of travellers, traditionally worn for safe passage — see St Christopher necklace meaning. St Michael is the archangel of protection and the warrior's medal — see St Michael pendant meaning. The compass stands for direction and purpose — see compass necklace meaning. Browse them all in men's necklaces.
Can men wear pearls?
Yes, and increasingly they do. Worn as a single strand in a restrained size, shell pearls read as considered rather than costume. Our Fortier necklaces and Marlow bracelets use 6mm, 8mm and 10mm shell pearls with steel or gold-plated detailing. See why men can wear pearl necklaces and browse men's pearl jewellery.

Gifting
Does it come gift wrapped?
Yes. Every order arrives in our iconic metal gift box at no extra cost — there's nothing to add at checkout.
What's a good jewellery gift for a man who doesn't wear jewellery?
Start understated and personal. A slimline leather bracelet like the Trinity, or a plain titanium cuff, sits close to the wrist and reads as an accessory rather than a statement. Adding an engraving turns it into something he keeps rather than something he wears once. Our men's jewellery gift guide works through this by personality type.
Do you do corporate or bulk gifting?
Yes. Email hello@forge-and-foundry.com with what you have in mind — quantity, budget and whether you need engraving — and we'll come back to you. See our corporate gifting page.
What if I don't know his size?
Choose an adjustable piece. The Ravick titanium cuff fits 5 to 9 inches, and our leather slider bracelets adjust up to 9 or 10 inches — both remove the guesswork entirely. A pendant is the other safe option, since chain length isn't a fitting issue. Or browse by budget in gifts under £50 and gifts under £100.
