Getting the Size Right

Signet rings sit differently to a band — the weight is concentrated on the face, so a ring that's slightly loose will rotate and end up sitting sideways on your finger. Size for a snug fit that still clears the knuckle.

Which Finger?

Traditionally the little finger of the non-dominant hand — which is where the sealing function put it, within easy reach of a wax seal.

In practice, most men now wear a signet on either the little finger or the index. The index reads bolder and more contemporary; the little finger stays closer to the classic. Neither is wrong. What matters more is avoiding the ring finger if you don't want it read as a wedding band.
