Gold reads warmer and more visible than silver at the same width, so a 2mm gold chain has roughly the presence of a 3mm silver one. If you want something noticeable without the weight, start there.

The plating is bonded to a steel core rather than applied over brass, which is what stops it wearing through at the clasp — the first place a cheap gold chain fails.
