The pearl necklace has gone from unusual to unremarkable on men in the space of a few years, and it's one of the few pieces that genuinely changes an outfit rather than just decorating it. Worn with a plain t-shirt or under an open collar, it does more work than a chain does.

Bead size sets the tone. 6mm is subtle and the easiest to start with. 8mm is the standard. 10mm is a statement, and needs a bit of confidence to carry.

These are shell pearls rather than freshwater — cut from mollusc shell and polished, which gives a more consistent size, colour and lustre than natural pearls, and considerably more durability. Clasps and signature detailing are 316L stainless steel or 18K gold-plated steel.
